About

The Silk Road, a journey through Asian food

Tyga began with one unforgettable trip to India in 2008.

When our founders, Matt and Steph, returned home, they wanted to recreate the dishes they had discovered on their travels but found many of the spices and specialist ingredients unfamiliar, difficult to source or sold in quantities that would sit unused in the cupboard.

With advice from Shahin, the chef at their favourite local Indian restaurant, the idea for Tyga was born: recipe-specific kits containing carefully measured spices, pastes and other specialist ingredients, accompanied by clear instructions that make adventurous home cooking genuinely achievable.

Today, from our base in Cheltenham, Tyga explores flavours from across Asia. Our recipes are inspired by the cuisines of India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, China and Japan.

Each colourful recipe kit is created around one distinctive dish. Inside are the measured Tyga spices, pastes, herbs, stocks and sauces required for that recipe, together with an illustrated, step-by-step recipe card. The recipient simply adds the clearly listed fresh ingredients.

Our gift sets contain four individually packed recipe kits, each serving four. Every box therefore provides four separate cooking experiences and up to 16 servings, whether the recipes are enjoyed one at a time or shared with friends and family.

The collection includes South East Asia, Asian Odyssey, Global Curries and Vegan Curries. From Green Thai Curry, Pho and Nasi Goreng to Satay, Ramen, Sri Lankan Curry and Aubergine Dhansak, each collection offers a different journey through Asian food.

Tyga’s Date Night Hampers won the Gift of the Year 2024 Food & Drink category. In 2025, our wider Asian Meal Gift Sets range won the same category—recognition that means a great deal to our small team.

Our vivid packaging is gift-ready and letterbox-friendly, making Tyga an original present for foodies, adventurous cooks, couples, friends and families. Every set is assembled and checked with care in Cheltenham, helping more people discover memorable dishes, cook with confidence and enjoy sharing great food.

Meet Matt and Steph, the founders behind Tyga.

Tyga was founded by Matt and Steph after they returned from India determined to recreate the dishes they had enjoyed on their travels. Unsure where to begin with unfamiliar spices and specialist ingredients, they asked Shahin, the chef at their favourite local Indian restaurant, for advice.

That conversation helped turn a shared love of food and travel into Tyga: carefully measured, recipe-specific kits that give people the confidence to cook something new.

Today, Matt and Steph work with their small team in Cheltenham to develop every set. They remain driven by the same simple idea: adventurous cooking should be achievable, enjoyable and, best of all, shared.
