In Celtic mythology this Hawthorn tree symbolises love and protection and is so sacred the fairies live under the tree to guard it!
This beautifully wrapped Fairy tree makes such a special gift that will grow with a child and be treasured forever.
A gift card with your personal message also includes the story of the Hawthorn tree's ancient symbolism and a care guide. Add an engraved brass plaque inscribed with your message (see images) so this special gift is always remembered.
All our trees are organically nurtured in The Present Tree's gardens where we never use harmful chemicals, just a blend of organic oils to ensure each tree naturally thrives. So when you place your order a beautiful Hawthorn tree will be freshly selected by our devoted gardeners before being wrapped in organza and placed in its luxury parcel.
This Hawthorn tree (Crataegus monogyna) is a small, deciduous tree which will thrive in any garden and naturally transforms with every season. In spring it has an abundance of pale, fragrant blossom that is wonderful for our bees and butterflies. Its dense foliage and thorny branches are perfect for birds to safely make their nests in summer. Then in autumn its 'haws' ripen before its leaves turn pale yellow and fall. Your Hawthorn tree will naturally be dormant and bare in winter until the warmth of our spring sunshine encourages new buds to grow.
Your Hawthorn tree is growing in an organic pot filled with top-notch compost, so no green-fingers required - just add daylight and water! We have added special nutrients to its compost to create the perfect balance of nourishment. This organic goodness will release into the soil for several months to ensure your tree continues to flourish.
All The Present Tree's products and packaging are 100% biodegradable, compostable, reusable or recyclable.
Your parcel travels in a clear eco bag so the couriers and recipients are aware a living tree is inside and it must be opened as soon as possible.
Your tree will happily grow in its organic pot for the next few weeks, just place it in a sheltered spot outside (even in chilly weather) and keep it well watered. Then plant your Hawthorn tree in a large flower pot (one with holes in the bottom for drainage) or in a sunny spot in the garden.
The luxury parcel is 70cm high and 10cm diameter. The Hawthorn tree is 55-65cm high. It will be quite happy to be lightly pruned in early spring and will reach a height of 2 metres in 10 years, if allowed to grow naturally.
