A one to oen folk guitar lesson with The Stranglers' ex-guitarist, John Ellis.
Now that we are going all 1970’s with the clothes and decor, isn’t it about time to get out the guitar and start to bring a bit of folk music back into our lives. When he wasn’t performing with The Stranglers, our blues guitar maestro John Ellis had a definite soft centre when it came to folk music, and now he is starting a folk guitar workshop. Think Woody Guthrie, Joni Mitchell, Baez and Dylan, the great poets and storytellers.
The class is aimed at beginners, but the more you know the more you're likely to get out of it. Participants must know the following chords: G, C, D, Em, Am and bring your own acoustic guitar.
In this workshop you will be learning the basic techniques to play a variety of folk music styles, strumming, flat and finger picking, and taking a look at the theory behind the basic chord progression used in folk music.
This is a great workshop for beginner songwriters (just remember doom, gloom and drink are buzz words especially when it comes to love). You will be learning 3 folk song classics, and something that John calls a ‘Slur’.
