Product description

A stunning, handmade, leather bound, A4 notebook, filled with recycled pages of unlined, handmade paper, kept secure with a brass clasp.

Our A4 embossed leather journals have plenty of room for writing, journaling, or scrapbooking. The perfect gift for any occasion and for anyone who has a passion for writing, sketching or painting.

These journals have pages of non-refillable unlined handmade khadda paper. The thick, plain pages mean that this book can be used not just for writing, but also as a memory scrapbook or artists sketchbook.

The pages are lightly textured and luxuriously thick, it feels beautiful to write, draw, or paint on. While it’s perfect for ball-point pens, gel pens, or watercolours, we wouldn’t recommend it for use with fountain pens.

We are a Fair Trade company and regularly visit our suppliers to ensure high working standards are met. This means you can buy this journal confident that the skilled workers who made it were given a fair wage and good working conditions.

Variations

This notebook is available simply embossed or, for a more intrepid look it can be stitched around the outside.

Made from

This product has been handmade by a small family business in Rajasthan, India.

We are fortunate enough to visit them every year, having worked with them for many years following Fair Trade guidelines. We are incredibly proud that together we are able to provide people in rural villages fairly paid work.

The leather used for the cover is a by-product of the meat industry in India and is tanned using only natural dyes. Protected with natural oils, it will soften and age beautifully.

Expertly crafted using both contemporary and traditional methods, each one is bound by hand and ready to withstand any knocks and bumps on their journeys with you. The embossed detail is created using small handmade tools, making each journal unique. The pattern might not be exactly the same as the one pictured, but it will be just as beautiful.

The paper pages are made from recycled cotton that has been left over from the massive garment industry in India. Only unbleached cotton is used so they do not contain any chemicals. Made by a charity in rural Rajasthan that promotes women’s education and their social standing in the rural villages.

Due to the nature of these leather journals the embossed pattern might not be the same as on the image.
