Product description
An atlantic puffin, nestled upon Red Campion.
Created as part of a body of work examining the increasing list of endangered birds.
The much loved Atlantic Puffin is found in few breeding sites throughout the British Isles and Northern Europe. Nestling amongst rocky slopes where Red Campion grows freely, they nest in burrows in huge colonies.
Sadly, the Antlantic Puffin is currently listed as a vulnerable bird. Because they breed in such densely populated sites, Puffins are particularly vulnerable to environmental changes such as over fishing and pollution. 85% of French puffins were killed in the 60s when oil leaked from the Torrey Canyon- thanks to their low reproductive rates, it takes the puffin decades to recover from events like this.
