Birdsong Tea Towel

This engraving shows the supposed musical basis of the songs of several birds, and is from Athanasius Kircher's exhaustive 1650 Musurgia Universalis, sive Ars Magna Consoni et Dissoni ("The Universal Musical Art, of the Great Art of Consonance and Dissonance"). Note that the parrot simply say says χαίρε - "hello", but in Greek, just to make it clear that we are still being scholarly.
