The Story Behind Indytute

Behind Indytute is two friends—Shaun and Vicki—who believe that the best parts of London are the ones you won’t find in a guidebook.

We are a small independent brand dedicated to uncovering the most interesting experiences across London. We focus on the unusual, the creative and the quietly brilliant things happening behind unassuming doors across the city.

You won’t find generic activities here. Instead, we spend our time tracking down talented hosts, unusual workshops and hidden gems. The kind of experiences that feel distinctly London, whether that’s choosing British cheeses from a moving conveyor in Camden Market or learning the art of tattooing over cocktails in the East End. If it’s inventive, characterful and a little unexpected, it tends to find its way into our collection.

We think the best gifts are not things that sit on a shelf. They are moments that surprise people and become stories you talk about long afterwards. Every experience in our store is run by someone who genuinely cares about what they do, from passionate food experts to skilled craftspeople and musicians.

The name Indytute comes from “Independent Tutelage”, a nod to our early mission of connecting curious people with experts who could teach them something new. Over the past decade that idea has grown into a carefully curated London experience store, built around a network of independent partners who make this city such an endlessly interesting place to explore.
