Scatter anytime from early Autumn through to the end of Spring, wildflower seeds love a chilly spell!
The kits are packaged at our Seedball workshop in London, using 100% paper pouches and an outer cardboard box - so the whole kit is fully recyclable or biodegradable with absolutely no plastic!
The outer clay of the seed balls protects the seeds from being eaten by ants, birds and mice, maximising the chance of the wildflowers growing. Once sufficient water has permeated the clay, the seeds inside begin to germinate - helped along by the nutrients and minerals contained within the ball.
Wildflowers are naturally slow to grow, and the balls can take 2-4 weeks to begin to sprout. Some will flower in the first year while the perennial species may not flower until the second year, but the display should keep getting better each year! The more they are initially watered, the quicker they will be to start to grow, although they will be ok to leave them to the rain to water them as well :)
