A rare full set of the ‘Familiar Wild Flowers’ series by F. Edward Hulme. Nine fabulous antique books with 360 beautiful colourful pictures.
These nine gorgeous books would make a stunning gift for a flower or nature lover. This set would make a wonderful wedding gift or special birthday or Christmas gift.
They are absolutely fabulous to browse and enjoy the beautiful lithographic botanical prints. They are a treasure trove of information about British wild flowers and an absolute joy! It’s amazing to think that these lovely books were produced by one man!
This edition was published by Cassell and Company Ltd in 1910.
There are 360 gorgeous botanical prints in these books. These original hand-coloured lithographs each measure 7.25in x 5in.
Each book has 40 prints in 40 chapters. Each chapter has a beautiful full-page botanical print followed by a detailed description of the flower and its medicinal uses and habitat. There is a wonderful decorative black and white drawing at the first letter of each chapter and a lovely black and white drawing of the flower at the end of each chapter.
These lovely books are in very good vintage condition. There is some slight foxing and aging on some of the pages but this does not affect the text or the prints. The previous owner has added some occasional small light pencil markings – these are just small lines and exclamation marks and could be easily erased if you wished. I have left these in as I think they add to the charm of the books!
