Story Of The Tank Gift Book

Learn about the changing face of tank warfare through the 50 most important, iconic vehicles from 1914 to the present day, in this lovely little hard back book, illustrated throughout, which will delight and inform any one interested in tanks.

The tank was created to break the deadlock of WW1's Western Front, where trench based defences, which included barbed wire, machine guns and artillery, had lead to immense loss of life.

Despite being dogged by mechanical unreliability and an initial inability to scale the trenches, the tank remained a key element in military strategy. Postwar development of technology and tactics saw the Germans open WWII with a devastating Blitzkreig in which the armoured divisions led the way.

Tanks dominated the battlefields of WWII and have continued to develop into the modern day to include the US Abrams, British Challenger, Sherman and the Russian T90.

A fascinating gift book packed full of information for anyone interested in tanks and their history for birthdays or Christmas.
