The Vortex Earrings | Dreams of Dark Creatures
Dreams of Dark Creatures is a collection that explores the world of dreaming and the dark, sultry thoughts of our subconscious that can awaken in our dreams. The main inspiration for this collection came from a painting called ‘The Dream of the Fisherman’s Wife’ by the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, and depicts a woman (a shell diver) enveloped in the arms of two octopuses in a passionate embrace. The pieces in the collection symbolise such things as passion, lust, anxiety, fear and the unknown, and have all been tied together with a strong nautical theme.
The Vortex earrings were inspired by swirling body of water produced by the meeting of opposing currents, not a dark creature but ferocious nevertheless. The earring features a stud which passes through the ear and twists back around to create a double stud and hoop look.
The Vortex earrings are available in sterling silver and 18ct yellow gold vermeil.
