About

My names Jack and I started making craft kits in April 2020 just as the UKs first lockdown hit and have carried on ever since!

My name's Jack and I'm a potter based in Staffordshire. I started The Clay Club in April 2020 just as the UK went into its first lockdown. I was at a cross roads, most of my income came from heading off to markets and shows and selling my pottery, suddenly I wasn't able to do this, and as the weeks went on my shows and exhibitions cancelled one after another for months in advance, I knew I had to do something, and this was when I thought about combining my knowledge of pottery and pottery tools, a little bit of Etsy and website building knowledge, and access to plenty of packaging supplies, I created my first 20 at home pottery kits which i promoted to my followers on Instagram. They sold out instantly, I think a lot of people wanted to support me, but also people were getting bored of watching Netflix all day and needed some more hands on escapism from the reality we were all facing. Since then the kits have sold in their thousands and are now proudly stocked in Selfridges too!

Whether you want to make a pinch pot like the boob planters you've seen on Instagram or something more unique, a clay pottery kit is a great way to spend an afternoon

After in-store sales became non-existent in the midst of the pandemic, this small studio in Stoke-on-Trent decided to take what it does best online and out into other people’s homes. These cute kits may be new to the market, but they’re already proving a hit at stockists Selfridges and from the brand’s cult following.

Roll up your sleeves because it's time to get your pottery on and do something very different this date night. Make each other a mug, bowl, plant pot – whatever, they'll love it and it's handmade. Make an event out of showing each other your creations once they are set.
