Good hair days start with a Good Wash Day.
Having started embracing my curls in early Spring 2020 I went down a rabbit hole of shampoos and conditioners and stylers and gels and cationic surfactants and polyquats and techniques. (I know, I need to get a new profile picture!).
Early on, my research led me to swapping out my usual bathroom towels for a more hair-friendly option. I tried T-shirts, a well-known concept in the curly community, but found them awkward to use: I avoided microfibre altogether on environmental grounds. I wanted a jersey cotton T-shirt towel, big enough to wrap my hair in, made in the UK and ethically sourced. I couldn’t find such an item so I created one.
Products have come and gone but my towel? It’s a keeper.
Since starting my business I have learned that this type of towel is better for ALL hair types. Because it’s so soft and gentle it is also helping people experiencing hair loss, and those recovering from chemotherapy.
All my fabrics are certified by the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres. Certification criteria includes labour conditions and ecological and social factors, and it covers the entire supply chain.
In a similar vein, I've also spent a long time sourcing environmentally friendly packaging materials from other small independent businesses, where possible. Being a natural minimalist my intention is to keep packaging to a minimum, but as with all things it's a balancing act: I want my products to arrive safely, and to have a bit of a wow factor.
Talking of packaging ... when I receive your order I will personally wrap and pack your towel(s) at my kitchen table before taking them to Nisha and Raj who run my local Post Office.
