A special edition print of Alistair Bruce-Ball’s original commentary notes from one of the greatest nights in West Ham United’s history – the 2023 Europa Conference League Final against Fiorentina in Prague.
On 7 June 2023, West Ham arrived at the Fortuna Arena with the chance to win their first major trophy in 43 years. Saïd Benrahma’s second-half penalty put the Hammers ahead before Giacomo Bonaventura quickly equalised for Fiorentina.
Then, with the final heading towards extra time, came the moment West Ham supporters will never forget.
In the 90th minute, Jarrod Bowen raced through on goal and scored the winner, sealing a dramatic 2–1 victory and sending the thousands of travelling West Ham fans in Prague into celebration.
These are prints of the actual notes prepared and used by Alistair Bruce-Ball for his commentary of the final – capturing the teams, players, statistics and handwritten detail behind his broadcast of an unforgettable night.
More than traditional football memorabilia, the finished piece offers a fascinating look behind the microphone at how one of British broadcasting’s leading commentators prepared to describe West Ham making history.
Why we love this sheet: It captures the night West Ham finally lifted another major trophy – 43 years after their 1980 FA Cup triumph – and the extraordinary last-minute goal that won it. For a West Ham supporter, it is a genuine piece of the story of Prague 2023.
