We are Stine and Nicoline, both Danes. We met well over 35 years ago, and have for the past 15 been working crying and laughing together. We started the Danes in order to share how to create Hygge, the Scandinavian way of life.

Hygge is about creating special and memorable moments every day, just by paying a bit more attention to the details that can change the ordinary and everyday moments. We take the ordinary and aim to make it extraordinary by designing and curating products to help you make this happen. Hygge in its true'st form is a feeling that can't easily be described, and whilst it’s that feeling of contentment you have when you’re snuggled up with the family by the fire, it is so much more. It changes with each seasons, the light and the atmosphere unique to each one, this we use as our inspiration and reflect in our product range!

We work and ship everything from our offices in Sussex by the two of us. Everything is packed and handled by the team of two plus an extra elf or two during our busy spells!

The Danes like to inspire a more Scandinavian way of living by making sustainable and creative lifestyle choices. Our Scandi inspired collection offers a curated range of quality homeware inspired by the seasons - including our best selling French Market Baskets, gift sets, seasonal products & natural decorations. A great selection of eco friendly and recyclable gift wrap, paper decorations, quality eco home products and tableware, as well as our unique creative and crafty kits and gift sets.

We love to encourage our customers to think about what they are buying and how to creatively use and reuse these.

We focus on slow living and we source products which do not further damage the environment and with emphasis on quality and longevity. All our packing is recyclable, no plastic is used and where we use clear bags, these are made from plant based PLA in the UK and are fully compostable.
