The leather is a vegetable tanned kangaroo produced in Australia for making stock whips. Kangaroo has the highest tensile strength of any leather - 3 x that of cow.... the skins are a premium resource with a global demand (that mostly goes into high end football boots
The scarring evident on the hides I use are evidence of the life of each animal - a typical feature is long scars down the backstrap of the Kangaroo from pushing under barbed wire fences.
I have used a hand-rolled waxed thread (barbours linen of course!), the buckles are solid brass spur strap buckles - another reference to Australian heritage."
