Growing vegetables at home is awesome. At Sprout, we want to also make it easy.

Reducing food miles and the need for packaging. Freeing up land to be given back to nature, with no machinery, herbicides or pesticides. Improving local air quality, and mental wellbeing, as well as providing much needed food for bees and other pollinators.
Most importantly, it provides loads of fresh and healthy vegetables right on your doorstep!
BUT IT CAN BE HARD
It requires time and effort to get started, and careful planning to keep productive. Knowing what to buy and where to buy it is confusing, especially if you live in a city. We want to change that.

Home grown vegetables have been a staple for me all my life. I was lucky enough to grow up on a farm, with a Mum who is a supreme gardener.
I moved to London determined to keep this up, so I started about transforming my balcony into a city vegetable patch. Over time I realised that with careful planning (and many more lessons from Mum), I could grow serious amounts of vegetables in my small space. There is something so special about growing the food you eat, and I am convinced the vegetables taste better!
However, the process of growing vegetables on my balcony was easier said than done. There’s a lot of information out there to help grow vegetables, but it’s all aimed for people with gardens or allotments. It was very hard to find small space specific information.
I started Sprout to help those like me who want to grow their own vegetables in towns and cities, but don’t know how or where to start and don’t have easy access to a garden centre. Everything is designed to grow in small city spaces - you don't need to a big garden to grow amazing vegetables!
