Our Story

The home of women's fiction

Rare Birds Book Club is an Edinburgh-based bookstore that’s dedicated to celebrating female authors and sharing the best of women’s fiction.

Our signature book subscription service brings an expertly curated selection of beautifully wrapped books straight through your letterbox each month.

We scour the shelves to bring you a huge variety of styles and genres and push you out of your comfort zone. And along the way, we’ll introduce you to some titles you might never have normally chosen, but that we’re sure you’ll love anyway.

We’re on a mission to help our members read for fun - we’re here to champion female authors who deserve more recognition, guide your reading and help every book feel like a beautifully wrapped gift, whether it’s for a loved one or a treat for yourself.

We’re delighted that Rare Birds was built by word of mouth; three short years ago when our business began we started on a shoestring and grew because our customers became passionate advocates of our brand, recommending us to friends and friends of friends.

Subscriptions are dispatched the first week of each new calendar month and will arrive with UK customers before the 10th of the month.

New subscription purchases between the 1st - 25th of each month will be dispatched within 2 days of ordering. Remaining deliveries will be dispatched the first week of each new calendar month.
