Sustainable and beautiful, our recycled sari gift bags can be given as part of the gift and reused time and time again.
Each gift bag in our collection is carefully handmade from vintage saris and lined with recycled fabrics for added strength.
The sari bags can either be re-gifted or re-purposed. We use a medium sized bag for storing our collection of organic cotton reels and large bags for protecting delicate scarves.
Variations
All our sari gift bags are limited edition. Once a particular pattern has sold out it's gone for good, but we'll continue to add new beautiful and unique designs to our collection.
In our current collection, we have -
SARI PEACOCK - a beautiful reclaimed sari fabric with a luxurious, satiny sheen. The composition is either pure cotton or cotton mix.
SARI GARDEN - bright, zingy green with flashes of turquoise and yellow make up the floral design on this pretty reclaimed sari fabric. The fabric is synthetic (please note - cord stop contains nickel).
SARI PAISLEY - a classic paisley pattern in bright green and golden yellow. The fabric is synthetic (please note - cord stop contains nickel).
SARI BIRD - a beautiful pure cotton fabric featuring birds and flowers in pinks and greens, set against a rich blue background (please note - cord stop contains nickel).
SARI SILK - a luxurious and very beautiful silk in shades of peach, red and green, with a subtle geometric design.
SARI FLAME - although we are not sure whether this is genuine or a high quality synthetic silk, it is a beautiful fabric with a vibrant orange and red pattern that reminds us of flames.
SARI ABSTRACT - an abstract leafy pattern in an unusual colourway of hot pink, pillar box red, green, orange and black. The fabric is either genuine silk or a very good quality synthetic silk.
The medium and large bags are double stitched for added strength.

Made from
Re-using and repurposing is one of the most sustainable ways to source materials, and we love giving a new lease of life to vintage and reclaimed fabrics.
Sari fabric comes in a range of different fibres, including cotton and silk. It’s not always easy to be certain of the fibre, as all the saris we use are reclaimed. Where we know for sure, we will state the fabric composition in the item description.
What we can guarantee is that all sari and lining fabric is carefully checked to ensure that it is in excellent condition. Occasionally the sari fabrics have small imperfections. These are part of the manufacturing process and add to the charm of the product.
Each bag is stitched with responsibly sourced organic cotton thread and the drawstrings are made from unbleached organic cotton tape. The bags are held firmly closed with a metal cord stop in either a gold or a silver finish, to complement the colours of the sari design.
In our efforts to be plastic free, we use recycled card packaging and eco-friendly paper tape. Parcels are padded with fabric offcuts, or we recycle paper from parcels we have received.
Please note: we use an eco-cycle and environmentally-friendly detergent to pre-wash all saris and lining fabrics before working with them. Hopefully it won’t be necessary to wash your gift bag, but if needed we recommend washing by hand. Unless a bag is known to be cotton, iron on a synthetics setting.
