Hello and a very warm welcome to Picture-This Books™. Home of the original children's books, for children to illustrate themselves. Inspired by my youngest son, these books are written and designed to encourage imagination, creativity and independent thought, to nurture confidence, empathy and kindness, and as fun but calming child-friendly mindfulness books.
In October 2017 I took my then 6 y/o to Northern Ireland during half-term. We had a wonderful week of outdoor adventures - by day we explored, by night we snacked and read stories in bed. One evening, I was reading a story to my son as he nodded off beside me. Towards the end of the book, my son sat up and looked at the pictures for the first time. When I finished reading he said to me "that's not how I imagined it to look in my head, Mummy". That was the end of that story, but the beginning of Picture-This Books™.
Created for small but mighty imaginers. We celebrate the joy of childhood and the wonder of difference.

My son's comments got me thinking, and I soon began researching representation in children's literature, particularly picture books. My findings were alarming and only made me more determined to pursue my idea. The books we read as children play a huge role in our early and formative perception of ourselves and the world around us. What message are we sending our children if they can’t see themselves, and the world as they know it, represented in the books they read? Opening their eyes to new ideas and experiences is vital – but so is feeling seen, heard and understood. Picture-This Books™ were created to give children the space to draw on their own reality (literally), whilst expressing their unique creativity and imagination. With fun, inspiring, uplifting stories, Picture-This Books™ are purposefully over-sized (230mm x 230mm) and printed on uncoated 190gsm paper. Children read the story on one side, then add their own illustrations in pencil or pen on the opposite page.
