I’ve recently taken up ceramics again, returning after almost a 20 year hiatus.
Don’t know what took me so long, this time a determination to master the wheel, well not so much master it but give it my best shot. There’s always something to learn, that’s the beauty of clay. The biggest lesson I think is patience and resilience, I'm trying, some days are good, others are filled with sweary words.
I work from my studio in Llantwit Major, on the South Wales coast. I love spending time at my wheel, sometimes listening to podcasts, other times, just listening to the birds with the doors wide open.

Ceramics is a slow craft, nothing can be rushed and I adore that, a chance to let the clay dictate your pace. On the whole, the process of completing a piece can take around 6 weeks, from throwing, trimming, glazing to firing.
I generally make my pots on a potter's wheel, sometimes though I handbuild, especially in-between big projects which is a lovely way to re-set myself.
My time is spent making crockery for the hospitality industry, corporate gifts and when I have time making small batches of functional ware to fill my online shop.
