Stunning handmade decorative bird wall hanging with individual birds, each with a small bell, separated with small colourful beads.
These bird hangings make a lovely alternative gift, something you certainly wouldn't find on the High Street!
Each one has been lovingly handmade by the Barefoot College, an NGO in rural Rajasthan.
Established in 1972, the Barefoot College is a non-government organisation that has been providing basic services and solutions to problems in rural communities, with the objective of making them self-sufficient and sustainable. These ‘Barefoot solutions’ can be broadly categorised into solar energy, water, education, health care, rural handicrafts, people’s action, communication, women’s empowerment and wasteland development.
Available in 3 sizes, 30, 20 and 10 birds. Please note: these totas are sold as an individual 'string' of birds. The product image shows multiple 'strings'.
Each bird has been made with recycled bits of rag and a small bell has been attached to the front and back. They also have sequins hand sewn onto the sides. Each bird has been threaded onto a string and also has small coloured beads separating each bird. The birds are approximately 30 x 20 mm in size. There is also a lovely bell at the bottom.
They make an ideal door hanging and are traditional in Indian households when welcoming guests.
These are not a toy and contain small pieces so are unsuitable for children.
