I am a British artist specialising in fine art paintings of animals that I love in acrylics.
My journey began at my kitchen table six years ago when my daughter started primary school. We live in a beautiful, sleepy village in the middle of the Hampshire countryside. Being surrounded by wildlife helped to inspire me to bring these animals, as well as domestic and other more exotic animals, to life in my paintings. I come from a long line of successful artists and have always been creative in my life and work. Painting what I love came naturally to me.
The main focus of my work is fine art, a realistic rendering of beautiful and interesting animals. I try and capture not only their likeness but also their personality. I chose to concentrate on the animal and not the background as I want the animal to be the focus of the painting. This also adds a contemporary feel to a fine art painting.
I want my work to be available and affordable to a wide audience of collectors. Therefore I sell giclée prints of my originals. I also sell handprinted and painted cushions of the same animal portraits.
Why gilcée prints over normal prints? Giclée prints are made using archival 12 colour inks that will last for hundreds of years unlike normal 4 colour prints that can fade after a few years. Also using a 12 colour process means an almost exact copy of the original painting in colour which is not possible using only 4 colours. I sell giclée prints of my original paintings signed and mounted in my shop MollieArt here at notonthehighstreet.com.
