The Land Rover was inspired by the American Jeeps in WWII and was launched in 1948 by the Rover Car Company. Despite being sparse and utilitarian the Land Rover had some illustrious owners including King George VI and Winston Churchill. Once the British Army adopted it as their vehicle of choice the Land Rover's place in automotive history was guaranteed. Since those days the company has gone on to develop the concept of luxury 4x4s with the Range Rover, Discovery and Freelander. This little book documents its great history.
