Stitching Culture, Colour & Conscious Design
Mashona Designs is my creative journey, inspired by my Zimbabwean heritage and a deep love of colour and culture. As a self-taught sewer, I began creating pieces that reflect both tradition and individuality, using vibrant African textiles.
I carefully select every fabric, sourcing preloved fabrics from my local second-hand fabric shop, Ankara offcuts transformed into unique patchwork to handprinted batiks rich in character, ensuring I reduce waste while giving new life to beautiful materials. My recycled materials range from old parachutes to decommissioned life rafts, and I save even the tiniest scraps for future projects—ensuring nothing goes to waste.
Each handmade accessory and homeware piece is crafted with intention—celebrating sustainability, creativity, and the beauty of African design.
Through Mashona Designs, I share a piece of my heritage, bringing warmth, colour, and conscious craftsmanship into everyday life.
