About
Made In Words is a small business based in the West of Scotland which specialises in personalised artworks and gifts.
Made In Words began in 2009 shortly after I moved with my family to the West of Scotland. Having trained in Textiles and Fine Art, I taught for ten years in various Art Colleges in the UK and abroad while continuing my own fine art practice and I saw this move as an opportunity to concentrate on doing what I love best; making lovely objects out of beautiful materials.
Pretty much everything I make is personalised and made to order, usually individual pieces but I do make larger batches of my products for events such as weddings and parties or for use as corporate gifts. I regularly make specially designed pieces for events gifts, particularly for theatre, music and film launches - my handmade paper boat in a bottle has been used to launch the Passenger album, 'Young as the Morning, Old as the Sea', to celebrate the opening night of Jamie Lloyd's 'The Tempest' starring Sigourney Weaver and to give to the cast and crew of 'Jurassic World: Rebirth' amongst other events. I am also always happy to discuss completely new products or twists on one of my established ones and have recently made a love heart piece for the cast of Much Ado About Nothing at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane starring Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell and a lovely salt tower in a bottle for Blackthorn Salt in Ayrshire. For individual customers, I've made bow ties in bottles for ushers and all sorts of variations on my flowers and framed hearts pieces using hand written drafts of first novels and using specific and meaningful colours for hearts and flowers.
