Handmade modern silver and gold jewellery
My name is Machi and I'm a jeweller. I make modernist pieces in silver and gold. My work is regularly exhibited at galleries and shows. I was Jeweller in Residence at South Hill Park Arts Centre in Bracknell from January 2010 to December 2011. I now teach jewellery at Missenden School of Creative Arts and at Buckinghamshire Adult Learning in Chesham.
I'm a big fan of abstract expressionism and minimalism, so work by artists like Robert Rauschenberg and Yves Klein inspire me. Closer to home, though, my whole family is artistic so I can also see creativity in my sister's knitting or my mom's painting or my grandmother's tapestries, the list is endless. I love how you can give the same material to a hundred people to make something and they will all come up with something totally different.
My signature collections are the gold ball collections. These collections are influenced by the simplicity of forms of early modern art, with fundamental shapes placed in subtle relationships with one another. The gold sphere provides a sense of tension or playfulness by balancing on the curve or peeking out from behind the silver.

All precious metal items sold in this shop that are big enough to be hallmarked are sent to the Assay office London to be stamped with the traditional UK hallmark and my sponsor's mark. The hallmark guarantees the precious metal content of an article.
Before you order a ring, you will need to know your ring size. You can do this by visiting a jewellery store and asking to have your finger measured. I need to know what country's sizing you are using. The best size is usually the ring that fits snugly and gives a little resistance when you take it off.
