About

Fine Cast Pewter - handmade in England

Jim Lancaster is the designer and owner of Lancaster and Gibbings. Since starting out at a craft market in Greenwich Lancaster & Gibbings has developed its reputation of producing distinctive pewter giftware, selling to stores in Europe, Japan and the U.S. In the UK we supply retailers such as John Lewis, The Conran Shop, National Trust, and Highgrove; as well as to some of the UK’s leading independent retailers.

Our original vision has always remained. To make pewter gifts that represent the finest in British design, to remain passionate about design and quality, and strive to maintain only the highest standards in everything we do.

After studying Fine Art, and working in the BBC special effects department Jim was keen to pursue his own work. It was while experimenting with different materials in his kitchen that Jim produced his first pewter casting. Immediately struck by the quality of the metal and the detail that could be achieved, he realised that this was the right material to work with.

Since then, Jim has played with the degree of detail pewter gives to create the range of unique and intricate designs of Lancaster & Gibbings - whether it is controlling subtle textures in smarter, simpler designs, or for more decorative effects.

Looking After Your Pewter product:

All you need to do to clean your Lancaster & Gibbings piece is use a soft cloth and a household furniture polish or glass cleaner. If you’ve left it a bit too long, washing in hot soapy water is good.

We don’t recommend cleaning the pewter with silver polish.
