About

HANDCRAFTED POTTERY

Nestled in the South Downs, tucked away in Kate's garden is her workshop, where she shuts herself away with her radio and makes hand painted pottery.

Each piece is handmade in stoneware clay, usually on a pottery wheel. It is fired in her kiln, glazed and then individually hand painted. With a nod to her past as a painter, Kate's patterns are an integral part of her collection, the patterns are inspired by Modernist art, such as the Bloomsbury Group, the natural world and the changing seasons. Once the patterns have been added the pieces can then go in for a final firing.

Kate's favourite thing to make is mugs, "I love how one of my pieces might become a favourite and be used and loved every day. Let's face it, coffee tastes better from a handmade mug!"
