At the head of each tasting sheet, dedicated spaces are provided to record the essential details: the whisky name, distillery, age, origin, proof, date of tasting, and price. A section for general notes allows you to capture immediate impressions or broader reflections.
To support in-depth tasting, the right-hand page features an intricate Flavour Wheel. This structured diagram is divided into categories such as citrus, floral, herbal, malty, peaty, smoky, spicy, and more, allowing the taster to visually map the whisky’s profile with precision. Surrounding rings enable a scale of intensity, offering a unique, accessible and comprehensive visual reference. Below the wheel, additional boxes invite remarks on the whisky’s legs and nose, encouraging further sensory exploration.
The design continues with a vertical Colour Scale ranging from clear through straw, honey, gold, amber, caramel, and mahogany, giving the taster a straightforward means of grading the appearance of each dram. A large notes box beneath supports descriptive commentary.
Towards the bottom of the spread, a neatly ruled table labelled Enjoyed With allows the drinker to recall memorable company, occasions, and settings. Each row provides space for the date, companions, and comments, transforming the journal into both a flavour record and a personal keepsake of shared moments.
