The 6 Things You Need to Include in Your Wedding Invitations

Planning your wedding invites? We’re here to take the stress away with a checklist of everything that should be included. You’re welcome.

What to include in your wedding invitations

1. The date

You might have already sent out a save-the-date card, but you definitely want to write out the date again so that guests have it to hand.

2. Timings

This is where you can outline the full schedule for the day. Make sure you include a note about exactly when you want guests to arrive so no one misses the ceremony!

3. Your names

You probably don’t need a reminder to put this on the invite. But just in case you do…

4. Location

Make sure you list out the address in full so everyone turns up in the right county. If it’s more rural, you might want to include some directions here to be on the safe side.

5. How to RSVP

Whether it’s by pigeon, email or post, make sure your guests know exactly how to RSVP – some people will even include this as a separate RSVP card. If you’re linking them to a website, you could also add in a QR code. Fancy.

6. Who is invited

Avoid any awkward chats about plus ones by writing out the names of exactly who is invited. You can thank us later for that tip.

Some other things you could include on your invite

While these points definitely aren’t essential, you might want to include them for a bit of extra context.

  • The dress code
  • Parking information
  • A request for allergy & dietary requirements
  • Recommended accommodation options
  • Whether you’d like gifts or money towards your honeymoon

Getting the right wording for wedding invitations

Some things can be a bit tricky to word on your invites especially when it comes to the more awkward topics. But here’s how we’d phrase them…

How to say you’re having a kid-free wedding

While we love kids, we are having an adult-only ceremony so everyone can relax and let their hair down.

How to ask for money instead of gifts

Your presence at our wedding is the best gift of all. But, if you’d like to contribute to our honeymoon, some money towards our pot would be greatly appreciated.

How to invite someone to just your evening ceremony

Due to space constraints, we’re sadly unable to accommodate you at our day ceremony. But, we’d be so happy if you could join us at our evening reception.
