What to put in a Boo Basket

Wondering what to put in your boo basket? Or what the heck a boo basket is? Our in-house experts have created a guide with the answers to all your questions.

What is a boo basket?

A boo basket is like a Christmas Eve box but for Halloween. It’s basically something you fill with autumnal and spooky treats to help someone hunker down over cosy season. They became a real trend last year and are particularly popular as a romantic gift for your partner (awww).

What do you put in a boo basket?

Short answer – stuff that’s autumn or Halloween related. This could be cosy slippers, a gorgeous scented candle, sweets, decorations, activities or a costume for their pet. Anything with spooky vibes, basically.

Cosy slippers

Cold feet? Not on our watch. A pair of slippers will always go down well and they’re a really good ‘big present’ to fill up some space in your basket or hamper.

Candles and scents

It wouldn’t be a boo box without a candle or something scented. And, we’ve got an incredible collection to pick from on our marketplace. Think adorable ghosts, pumpkin candles and even a haunted house incense burner. Very cool!

Decorations, activities and sweet treats

A boo basket can also be used as a way to reveal your decorations and activities to build excitement for Halloween. Fill it with pumpkin bunting and crafty kits for the little ones to enjoy. A potion making kit? Now that’s magical.

For the grown-ups

Boo baskets aren’t just for the kids. If you know someone who really loves Halloween, they can make a really fun and thoughtful gift. Fill it with a cosy jumper, personalised brownies, spooky jewellery or even spider lashes. Sorry, can we take a moment for that adorable ghost necklace? *Adds straight to basket*.

For the little ones

For the kids, we’ve got lots of things that will make their imagination run wild. Think light-up tees, spooky cat colouring-in books, creative costumes and personalised sunnies. And, if you’re looking for a gorgeous basket to put them in, we love this handwoven one from small brand, Little Poe Designs. It even doubles up as a trick-or-treating bag. Win-win.

Ready-made boo boxes

Don’t have the time to put a whole hamper together? Our small brands have got your back with these scarily good boxes. You can even personalise this one with their name for an extra-special touch.

Who can you give a boo basket to?

Anyone! They’re a great gift for little ones but can also make a really sweet gift for autumn anniversaries or birthdays. You could even pop one in your basket for yourself. Because you deserve it, obviously.

When should I give a boo basket?

There’s no traditional date to give a boo basket but most people will give one at some point during October in the run up to Halloween. If you want to create one in January, do it. There are no rules here.
