Essentially a book binding kit this could fulfill many requirements, from scrapbook, journal, keepsake album, notebook to diary. The book will be loved for the natural look, pleasing textures, visible decorative binding and inspiring pages.
All the pages are plain but chosen for their natural tones and subtle textures with a few black pages for mounting pictures. The cover is cork which is pliable but chunky and strong.
As well as learning a new skill the benefit of the kit format allows the pages to be filled before binding them so choices can be made and mistakes left out.
Variations
Your sketchbook kit will arrive in a decorated cardboard box with a gift tag.
In the box is: An instruction sheet, a cork front and cardboard back cover, 4 black pages, 26 cream, white and brown pages (2 of each selection), linen thread, 2 pegs as clamps, a wire coil (to help align the pages) and a self sticking name label. Nothing else is required to make the book.
The shaped name label co-ordinates with the cover and can be written by yourself or personalised for you with up to thirty characters using an old typewriter.
The pages and cover of the sketchbook are cut and punched by hand, they can vary a little in size and give the finished item a particularly handmade character, a pleasing antidote to machine made books. Please be aware that the cover and pages may not look exactly like the one pictured as each kit is unique.

The sketchbook has eco credentials featuring the cork cover that is tree bark which regrows and so is sustainable. The back cover is recycled cardboard. The page papers are from various sources but recycled or reused if possible like kraft paper. There is no glue used in the binding and the thread is linen. The sketchbook kit comes in a decorative cardboard gift box and is sent through the post in a plastic sleeve to protect it from the weather.
