Homeward bound books is one woman business run by myself Lindsay Cook, I have managed to find my calling later on in life. Paper has always been a passion and eventually something had to be done with the collection of old wall paper, bags and packaging. A big part of the attraction is about the worn texture and look of papers that have already been used and the pleasure of giving the paper another purpose. During the year after being made redundant from a council job setting up environmental projects in the community, I pulled all my interests together and taught myself some bookbinding techniques.
Plucking up the courage to start a business was a big step but so rewarding that I would encourage anyone else thinking about it to get going - start small and follow the opportunities that arise. Joining Not on the High Street was a big boost to my confidence and sales.
Designing a book kit that can be put together by the purchaser is my unique selling point and allows people to really get creative and make a very personal keepsake. I hope that my enjoyment in hunting down the interesting papers in diverse places will be repeated as you search through the box to find a page that is just right to record that particular thing on your mind.
