In the language of flowers, the thistle, the national flower of Scotland, is an ancient Celtic symbol of nobility of character and birth, for this reason the thistle is the symbol of the Order of the Thistle, a high chivalric order of Scotland. Legend tells of a bare footed Viking attacker who stepped on a thistle at night and cried out, so alerting the defenders of a Scottish castle.

Our thistle scarf ring holder is one of a range of over 200 designs made by Glover and Smith in Salisbury.

Made from

All Glover and Smith designs are made from solid polished lead-free pewter which is non-tarnishing (that was the lead in old pewter) and completely nickel-free. Because we use solid metal the surface of your Thisle scarf ring will never flake like a silver plated scarf holder. To clean just wash with warm soapy water. All our designs are made exclusively by us in Wiltshire.
