El Rayo 'Reposado' Tequila

A full-bodied and layered Tequila, rested for 7 months in ex-whisky barrels. Notes of aromatic spices and flavours of cinnamon, almond and burnt orange.

El Rayo Reposado’s unique taste comes from the beautiful, slow-grown, blue agave that matures in Mexico’s highlands for 8 years, before resting for 7 months in ex-whisky barrels to draw out the spicier and nuttier agave notes. We don’t use botanicals or additives to create flavour because agave is the flavour, we simply preserve the magic, so you can experience it too.

It has a golden caramel colour and a rich, nutty complexity. Notes of aromatic spices give way to flavours of cinnamon, fresh herbs and burnt orange. Pair with tonic and garnish with a slice of grapefruit for a modern, refreshing drink. Perfect for those who like to do things a little differently; moving away from the outdated image of late night shots onto something a little longer.

Our beautiful bottles were designed with a local artist from Guadalajara, Mario, and pays homage to the Mexican folklore of the origins of Tequila, which tells of El Rayo (lightning) striking the blue agave. The myth desribes how a local campesino witnessed this moment and followed the burning glow into the distance. The cooked agave plant was discovered; Tequila was born.
