Hello, I'm Jess, the illustrator and designer behind Second Leaf Studio.

Second Leaf refers to the ‘true’ leaves a plant grows once it’s ready to become itself. It's also a play on words for a second page or chapter and is a metaphor for change and new beginnings.

After more than a decade designing products professionally, I wanted to create something more personal, products that would be as lovely to give as they are to keep. I create hand-drawn prints, gifts and paper goods inspired by the things that make me happy - flowers, good food, quiet moments outdoors and finding joy in the ordinary.

Working from my home studio in Bedfordshire, every piece in my collections starts as a hand-drawn illustration - often inspired by the countryside nearby - before being combined with painted elements, collage and typography and transformed into cards, prints, stationery and other thoughtful gifts. Whether it's a botanical illustration for your wall, a recipe card to pass between friends or a notebook that encourages a fresh start, each piece is designed to brighten up the everyday.
