About

I’m Catherine, a self-taught designer and illustrator based in my home studio in the UK. After over eleven years creating luxury stationery with my first business, CJ Designs, I felt the pull to do something a little more playful — something that didn’t take itself too seriously. Having briefly dipped my toes into children's prints with my second business Orla and the Gang, I wanted to include a more grown up range, I wanted Catherine M Studio to be a space for bold prints and stationery that mix clean design with a fun, illustrative twist. However at the beginning of 2025 I became unwell and bed bound, unable to create or join in on my life in any capacity. The newest collections you see here were born from my longing to get back to normality and to start participating again in all the lovely (and mostly mundane and normal) things I used to take for granted. 'Go outside and Breathe' was created from the real urge to get out of my bed, go down my stairs and into my garden, as I knew that would start to help me heal. 'And suddenly it all works out for you' was a print I created whilst trying to remain positive about my future. 'I just want to sip cocktails with my friends in the sunshine' was a print I created out of desperation to rejoin my old life and just enjoy the small moments again with loved ones. 'Go get a big bag of crisps' was a tongue-in-cheek medicinal joke, since I actually did need salted foods to help me get well again, and who needs to be asked twice to go get a big bag of crisps!

I decided once I became well again to start sharing all my illustrations and doodles in the hope other people may get the same motivation from them and hopefully love having them on their walls. My collections now are a mix of my past musings when unwell, tongue-in-cheek advice and real talk for those of us who may be going through difficult times.
