Hand Embroidered Pashmina Shawl From Kashmir

Each shawl will differ slightly due to the hand embroidery. The embroidery is a traditional chain stitch done in Kashmir called ‘Aari’. It is done with a cobbler's hook-like needle and the most unique part is it is done without a frame. The fabric is gently stretched over the embroiderer's knee and that provides the tension in the fabric to embroider it.
