Product description

Stunning handspun, handwoven ,organic and Cruelty Free "Peace Silk" Shawl. Hand block printed by the most talented artisans at the studio of Neesha Amreesh.

Organic "peace silk" is a "cruelty free" and sustainable non-violent alternative to regular silk. The method used in the production of organic "Peace Silk" silk does not involve the killing of the silk worm - hence "non-violent silk "or "peace silk." The silk is then handspun, hand woven and then hand block printed, making them both very beautiful and unique.

They would make the perfect gift for a Vegan, but also for the person who likes to know the provinance of their clothing.

Dimensions

65-70cm x 210 cm (Sizes may differ slightly due to the hand made nature of these exquisite pieces.)

Made from

100% pure organic "Peace Silk"

Regular silk is produced from the cocoons by killing thousands of silk worms - dropping them into boiling water before they can metamorphose into moths. By preventing the moth chewing its way through the cocoon to escape, one long continuous thread can be produced. Organic silk is produced from the cocoon where the moth is naturally released. By allowing the moth to pierce the cocoon, the resulting yarn is in many smaller pieces (instead of one continuous thread). These must be spun together to make a single thread. This process takes time and makes the silk highly valued. It results in a fabric which is slubbed and multi-tonal; a truly wild silk.100% Pure Silk.

We recommend dry cleaning only. However you could allow the shawl to freshen outside out of direct sunlight...on a dry day.
