About

Fiercely Authentic Tea

Tea Rebellion was founded to change the way tea is traded and to connect tea drinkers with tea farmers. Its founder, Annabel believes in transforming things that don’t work. Why do most tea drinkers know so little about the providence of tea and tea farmers make such unsustainable returns?

Annabel decided it was the perfect time to shake things up in this traditional industry and create a social enterprise to change the status quo. Annabel grew up with artisanal production of olive oil, white wine and herbal tea.

Fiercely Authentic Tea

We love tea festivals and have won many awards between and 2019 and 2020 at the Toronto Tea Festival and at AVPA in Paris. We have also participate in the San Francisco Tea festival. Unfortunately then COVID hid and many tea festivals over the last 2 years were cancelled.

In our various blogs about tea festivals we have shared about what is like to be either on the jury (for example blind tasting for herbal teas) and also to participate as a vendor (behind the scenes).

Each tea festival is unique. One thing that we love about tea festivals is that it is finally an event where tea is the main show in town. Here you can walk in an rest assured that everyone there loves tea as much as you do.

Another amazing thing is the diversity and community that is created over a three day tea festival both amongst vendors and tea samplers.

We cannot wait to participate in many face to face tea festivals or even hybrid models in 2021

  • “Luckily, when I talked to the farmers they had the same passion as me to change the tea industry and preferred to trade directly with Tea Rebellion” – Annabel Kalmar
