Internationally renowned Shaving Scuttle. The perfect gift for the man who likes to wet shave in comfort.
UPDATED INSTRUCTIONS FOR USAGE -The outer and inner bowl are first filled with hot water and left for a few minutes to heat the scuttle. The water is then removed and the outer bowl filled again with hot water. This keeps the soap lather warm whilst shaving.
It is recommended not to use boiling water from a kettle because this makes the lather too thin. Using hot tap water to heat the scuttle gives a lovely creamy consistency.
Lathering in the bowl is achieved by a circular pumping action with a nylon brush. The tightly radiused top edge of the inner bowl assists with removing the lather from the brush.
The advantage of having warm lather applied to the skin means the hair folicles expand resulting in a closer shave, similar to the hot towel method used in barber shops. The soap dish supplied with the scuttle fits neatly on top for storage.
The advantage of this shaving scuttle is that it heats the soap quickly due to its thinner walls and clay material (Earthenware) as oposed to stoneware which takes longer to heat up.
Variations
The shaving scuttle can be personalised with a name or initial. There is a choice of two fonts; handwriting style Ingenious or classic style MT Bell.

High fired earthenware by the process of slip casting which is pouring liquid clay into a plaster mould. All the design and development work necessary to produce the plaster mould has been undertaken by Sculpta Ceramics.

Lochranza soap with Patchouli and Anise fragrances is hand made in Scotland.
