Weaver, maker, author
Lucy is a wool-based fibre artist from the South Coast with a love of playful colours and textures. Born without a sense of smell, she believes her sense of complementary colours has been heightened to compensate. Author of '40 Knots and How to Tie Them' with her next book 'Punch Needle Embroidery for Beginners' out in November 2020.
Lucy spends her days playing with colour and texture, creating beautiful weaves and decorative wonders. When Lucy isn’t crafting, she’s teaching others to and can be found passing on her skills in workshops across the UK and Europe. Highlights of Lucy's career have been featuring on Kirstie Allsopp's Handmade Christmas and working with various magazines including Elle Decoration and Mollie Makes.
In 2013 Lucy saw a small wooden lap loom on eBay and not really having a clue what it was, she bought it anyway. Lucy didn’t realise that this would be the start of her love for weaving. Teaching herself with books from the library and anything she could find on the internet Lucy managed to find her own style and is well and truly addicted.
Trying to create as much texture in her work and exploring the use of colour Lucy looks forward to where this weaving journey will take her. Please get in touch if you are interested in any of her pieces or would like a bespoke wall hanging. Lucy would love to chat to you about it.
