About me and my business

A British homeware brand committed to ethical design, specialising in printed and interior textiles.

Founded and crafted with care by textile designer Eleanor Nadimi, One Nine Eight Five offers sustainable, honest collections that bring colour, comfort and joy for spaces to call ‘our own’.

Each piece consciously designed, sourced and produced with a no waste philosophy as standard. Creating staple, home accessories, dreamed from a place that honours beauty and self expression for all. Every design, elevated in rich transeasonal colourways and feel good, do good fabrics to uplift the soul.

The brand launched in 2016 when Eleanor turned her back on working in high street fashion. She began to question the ‘throw away’ mindset behind the fast fashion industry setting up One Nine Eight Five with sustainable production and ethical trading as core values, contributing to closing the loop on waste without compromising on design.

Our Products

The throws are crafted using either recycled cotton or recycled wool, salvaged from offcuts in garment making factories. These are broken down into fibre, re-spun into yarn, then woven and hand-finished using traditional techniques in British mills - bridging the two industries together creating a wider circular economy.

Eleanor works with British craftsman including one of the last velvet makers in the UK.

The zip pouches were introduced as a solution to working with the remnants of fabric from her cushion production.

The brand also offers a capsule collection entitled 'Woman', a line drawing of the female form celebrating the beauty found in every woman. 15% of the profits from this collection is donated to the UK’s eating disorder charity Beat. Eleanor hopes that she can help raise awareness about the pressures of growing up in a society which obsesses over unrealistic concepts of what it means to be beautiful in - particular, the often distorted gaze of social media.
