Discover the untold secrets of the art of blacksmithing at Oldfield Forge Ltd. Set in the very heart of the Herefordshire countryside our expert blacksmiths will guide you through each stage. Work as a team to make your very own dagger or small sword.
This gift experiences allows (almost) everyone to participate – from the intrigued novice right through to those with some existing proficiency, and enables them to test their metal-working skills. Children from the age of 7 years can fulfil their dream of making their very own medieval or family crest dagger.
Discover the fundamentals skills of blacksmithing and learn the traditional techniques involved in make your very own Dagger/Small Sword.
This is a fantastic 5-6 hours of fun, taught in a relaxed and friendly environment, where you will be made to sweat but will leave at the end of the day with your very own Dagger to cherish forever - along with a special story to be told.
The day does only include for one Dagger to be be made by two people.
This experience package is a perfect gift for family, friends, couples for either Christmas, Birthday or a Special Occasion.
This would also be a fantastic dayout for those who are passionate about 'Forged In Fire', 'Game Of Thrones' or 'Lord Of The Rings' this is right up your lane too!
During the day you will work with mild steel and a coke forge to produce the decorative blade.
All PPE is provided on the day.
Children who visit for the day, will not only leave for a forever keepsake, they will also have experienced life as a real blacksmith with history, science, maths and metalwork design all thrown in. For those young, aspiring ‘Forged in Fire’ fans this is a great way to have a go at traditional blacksmithing!
Children from the age of 7 years are welcome to participate
Parking is free on site, although we do state dogs are not allowed on site. Any valuables left in the car are left at their own risk.
One Day experience for Two people, approx 5-6 hours long.
We run courses from Monday through to Saturday all year round, other than public bank holidays. Please be aware that Saturdays do get booked well in advance. All vouchers are valid for a full twelve months from the date of purchase, thus giving you plenty of time to get in touch and book a convenient date.
During your time with us lunch can be enjoyed in our adjoining woodlands or, if you prefer, in either our shepherd’s hut or our Scandinavian lodge. Lunch is not included in the package but can be ordered in advance with our local family-run pub. You are of course more than welcome to bring a picnic from home. We also work with a number of local B&B’s and hotels who we know will look after you during your time with us.
