NIXEY celebrates Celtic & British heritage with modern, beautifully crafted accessories. Handmade in London & Scotland.
From Laura-Marie NIXEY, Founder:
It all started in 2016 with a sketchbook & pencil at my dining table, designing my first bag collection. A seed of an idea grew to design something in leather which touched on my own family heritage, spanning England, Scotland & Ireland.
My Grandpa Jock grew up just outside Edinburgh & to him everything that was good in life was Scottish (he was rarely without a cup of “Scottish” Tea; strong, milky with an unmentionable number of sugars!). From thoughts of Grandpa Jock, I began researching Scotland’s history & in turn, the traditional sporran. I had a design & was in luck when I found a wonderful workshop near the Highlands who brought my ideas to life.
In 2020, during the Covid lockdown, I took-up the cliché pastime of painting nature studies. This inspired NIXEY’s first jewellery collection, the Celtic Tree Zodiac, which I handmake at home.
I run NIXEY from my flat in London where I live with my partner Alex & our little boy Dylan.
