In 1978, after graduating from the Birmingham School of Jewellery, Nick and his wife Jean set up their own business designing and making tiny, moving and opening charms for the jewellery trade in Birmingham's historic Jewellery Quarter.
Inspired by his love for all things small; Nick went on to produce his first jewellery collection and in 1996 the miniature world of Nick Hubbard jewellery began! Those not familiar with Nick’s work will be amazed by the detail and intricacy of his unique designs; a figurative collection of oxidized silver jewellery and charms bearing words and messages. Many pieces have moving parts and small doors that open to reveal fine gold detail.
Nick’s work has gained world wide appeal and a loyal following of friends. His jewellery has become extremely collectable and can be easily identified as an original article by a small engraving of a ‘Brick and Bean’. This 'Brick and Bean' logo is a play on words of Nick and his wife’s name ‘Nick and Jean’.
The Brick and Bean team work from an old bakery overlooking the Staffordshire countryside, designing and making pieces that express messages of hope, affection and happiness for one to give and receive!
