Delicate Japanese woodblock print of leaves printed in three greens, cool purple and silver and gold ink. A perfect gift for gardening art-lovers.
This rare botanical art print was hand printed in Japan in the 1960s using the woodblock printing technique. It was first printed in the early 1900s and designed for a famous design showcase magazine that featured handprinted examples.
The artwork is roughly a5 in size and would look at its best when displayed in a small space. This is because over the top of the leaves are finely printed vertical silver and gold lines. There is also a pattern of horizontal lines printed behind the leaves. It is very intricate.
The curve of the plant stalks, printed in a soft gradated effect in purple and green is beautifully sloped, which lends this print a relaxing air. The pastel colours make it doubly calming.
This Japanese artwork would go best in a nook, stairwell, hall, landing, pantry or office/studio - you would want to admire it close-up.
It would be a unique gift for someone who likes leaves and nature, Japanese design, pastels and elegance in artwork.
Choose to have this art print arrive in three ways, as is, simply a piece of paper; mounted (sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 " / 25.4 x 20.3 cms frame) or framed. The black and gold frame pictured is made from responsibly sourced timber with real glass from Dunhelm.
