Tourmalinated quartz is a variety of clear Quartz with naturally occurring needle-like inclusions of black Tourmaline. Tourmaline Quartz combines the properties of Tourmaline and Clear Quartz Crystal. All of my jewellery is handmade by me in my workshop at Cockpit Arts in Holborn.
The gold is fused onto the silver using an ancient Japanese technique called Keum Boo. This technique is accomplished by first depleting a surface of sterling silver to bring up a thin layer of fine silver. Then 24 carat gold foil is applied with heat and pressure— mechanical gilding —to produce a permanent diffusion bond. This creates a beautiful and striking contrast with the silver.
