About

Inspired by the Caribbean

Tihara Smith is an accessories, fashion and lifestyle brand. Inspired by her heritage, Tihara Smith takes inspiration from the Caribbean with a London twist.

Since graduating from University for the Creative Arts Epsom and showing her Windrush inspired fashion collection at Graduate Fashion Week, she has continued to create distinctive handmade accessories, and thoughtfully designed stationery that allows people to have a little piece of the Caribbean.

Each piece in the collection is designed by Tihara to bring a touch of Caribbean sunshine to your day, or for you to gift to your loved ones. Tihara’s work uses tropical motifs, like palm trees and monstera leaves, and vibrant colour schemes, including bright sunshine yellows, lush greens and beachy turquoise blues to help you escape the day to day and feel as if you’re on a Caribbean island.

Tihara's work has been acquired by the Museum of London

In the spring of 2021, the Museum of London acquired an outfit from Tihara's graduate Windrush fashion collection, as well as her grandfather's suit plus oral histories recorded by Tihara, her Grandfather & mother. The pieces were acquired by the museum to add to their collection to help share the Windrush story.

Tihara's Windrush collection was inspired by her own Caribbean heritage, with her grandparents coming to the UK from St Lucia and Jamaica. Along with personal stories from her family, Tihara was also inspired by the Windrush Generation as a whole and hoped to create a collection that celebrated the beauty of the Caribbean and the influence, contribution and legacy of the Windrush Generation.

Since graduating, Tihara has continued to design and create distinctive pieces that are inspired by the Caribbean and celebrates the Windrush legacy.
